Dallas Borough and Dallas Township Fire Hydrants to be Flushed During Overnight Hours This Weekend

Part of Routine Maintenance

United Water technicians will flush fire hydrants throughout the Borough of Dallas and Dallas Township in Luzerne County during the following hours between May 16-18, 2014:

10:00 p.m. on May 16 through 6:00 a.m. on May 17

10:00 p.m. on May 17 through 6:00 p.m. on May 18

In addition to flushing, the hydrants will be inspected and tested to ensure that customers receive the highest quality of water possible. The process helps to maintain the integrity of the water distribution system and is generally performed during warm weather.

Some customers may experience temporary incidences of low water pressure or discoloration during the flushing process.  Those experiencing discolored water should run their COLD water tap only for several minutes until the discoloration clears BEFORE washing clothes or dishes.

This work is being done during overnight hours to minimize inconvenience to customers.  We apologize for any inconvenience this work may cause and thank our Dallas and Dallas Township customers for their understanding as we work to serve you better.
At the request of Williams-Transco, an informational meeting will take place tomorrow afternoon (5/8/14) with Township officials, at 3:00 p.m., to provide an informational presentation related to its proposed Atlantic Sunrise Project.

The gas fumes reported in the area of the school district this morning (3/9/14) was due to a malfunction in the furnace at the high school. BM Regional Fire & EMS and staff from the school district detected the cause of the gas smell that permeated through Orchard View Terrace and across nearby area. No need for alarm. The system was shut down and the building ventilated.
